Some advice from an old timer ;)
It’s safe to say since I have been here almost 4 years, I know a little something something about Iowa State! So with that, here are some of my tips for prospective students!
- FILL OUT YOUR FAFSA!! Make a habit of getting that turned in before March 1st! I would even go as far as to suggest that you do that over winter break before you return to school!
- Sign your housing contract ASAP! Don’t get me wrong, every place on campus is nice, BUT if you are looking at a specific area or type of room you want to stay on top of that! Even once you have been a student here determining your housing situation is always best if done EARLY!
- Join a club! There is nothing like feeling involved once you get here — so get involved early and STAY involved!
- Finish your last semester strong! I know if you are a senior that infamous “senioritis” has kicked in (I would know)! However, make sure to finish the semester strong because there is certainly more to come!!
- Practice some stress relieving tools. Your first semester or even first few years can be very exciting and overwhelming. Learning time management skills and how to cope with stress before you get here will help!
Overall, your ISU adventure will be nothing less than awesome!! So if you have picked ISU congrats!!! Prepare yourself for an awesome time!!
