VEISHEA Is Almost Here!!!

Hey everyone! Are you all super excited that VEISHEA is almost here?! I know I am!! ๐Ÿ™‚

What is VEISHEA you ask? Well, VEISHEA is an annual celebration held at Iowa State every spring, and actually one of the oldest traditions here! This six day event serves as a showcase and display of the Iowa State community with a wide variety of entertainment and educational events. VEISHEA was formed by combining the first letters of the original colleges at Iowa State. The word VEISHEA is pronounced (“VEE-sha”) and stands for:

Veterinary Medicine

Engineering

Industrial Science

Home Economics

Agriculture

Comedian David Koechner (Champ from Anchorman 1 &2) will also be performing Saturday at 10pm in Stephens Auditorium for FREE!

Iowa State students also have the chance to show of their entertainment skills by performing in Cyclone Idol, VEISHEA Dance Performance, or VEISHEA Says I’m Funny!

During VEISHEA, Iowa State has no shortage of food for the 10,000 people who flock to Iowa State for this big event! VEISHEA offers a wide variety of different foods.

Food:

– Taste Of VEISHEA is always a big hit with people. Food vendors set up their food-stands by Lake LaVerne for VEISHEA-goers. There is usually a pretty good variety of food for people to enjoy!

– Pancakes on campus from 12am-3am is a popular tradition for students!

– Student food stands are run by different student clubs/organizations and they are always a great place to stop and grab a bite to eat!

Another really cool event during VEISHEA is the VEISHEA Village located on Central Campus. This is where a bunch of different college departments, clubs and organizations, Greek representatives, and more go and setup educational displays for people to go around and check out! Most of the time the tents will have cool things you can get or do at their respective tents! Click here for a list of all the different displays that will be there and maps of where they will be!!

Last, but not least, who could forget the PARADE?! There is always a VEISHEA Parade that is super fun to go to and see all the different floats!
