Spring Break on the East Coast
This spring break, a friend of mine invited me to go with him to Virginia and spend the week there. I decided to go there without any hesitation, because I knew it was going to be a great trip. Everyone had made their own plans and could not have been more excited to leave school behind for a week; and I was no exception.
It was finally “Go Time.” We packed our bags and headed straight to the airport where we boarded the plane to Washington. We made it to his house, set our bags down, and went out to watch the Iowa State men’s basketball team clinch the second straight Big 12 Tournament Championship. It felt great to represent our school in a different state and have everybody congratulate us after the win!
The next day, we woke up nice and early and headed to Washington DC for a tour around the beautiful capitol. We saw the Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument, the Capitol, and many more national monuments and museums. However, the place we visited and took pictures with that I liked the most was the White House; home of the president!
Following that day, my friend and I hung around the city, went to the movies, and attended a few concerts. I also met up with a friend of mine who went to the same high school as mine who happened to live in Virginia. I had a great time catching up with her as I also introduced her to my new friend from here.
Unfortunately, it was time to pack our bags again and head back to Ames as spring break was coming to an end. The last week was absolutely amazing filled with a lot of adventure and new experiences. I sure will have a lot of pleasant memories!
