Three Things to Do When You’re Feeling Stressed
It’s getting to be that point in the semester when your planner looks more like a road map than a to-do list. Each and every class has a project and/or exam that just so happens to fall on the same week. It can start to feel like you’re never going to get it all done!
Never fear, my dear.
When you let yourself get stressed out, you begin to lose sight of the bigger picture. You are perfectly capable of getting each item in your planner crossed off on-time!
Next time you feel the stress monster creeping up on you, follow these three steps to get your mind straight.
- Look up inspirational quotes. | Yes, this is cheesy. Yes, this is effective. No matter how you spin it, fun motivational quotes can provide the extra perspective you need to get your life under control. I often print them off and hang them in my room for maximum encouragement. Click here to see the Pinterest Board with some of my favorites that I’ve curated, just for you.
- Treat Yo’ Self. | For me, that involves a pint of Talenti gelato and/or a walk around the neighborhood. Fresh air and tasty dessert are the keys to eliminating stress in your life. Take a half hour every day to remind yourself how great the world (and dessert) is.
- Refresh and regroup. | Once you’ve followed the prior steps, come back at your work with new eyes. Simplify your schedule: instead of looking at what you need to get done this semester, look at what you need to get done this week and finally, today. Feel free to revert to steps one and two as needed.
In closing, YOU CAN DO IT!
