As One Chapter Closes, Another One Opens.
It’s been a while since we’ve last talked. Some big changes have happened in the last few weeks.
For starters, I graduated from Iowa State! [insert hysterical sobbing emoji here.]
I chose to celebrate my survival (graduation) by attending the College of Liberal Arts’ Convocation Ceremony at Hilton Coliseum. Convocation with my college was a great way to close out my college experience. I sat with classmates from my major, shook the hand of the Dean of the college and was cheered on from my family and friends in the crowd.
And just like that, one chapter of my life quietly closed, while another opened.
I accepted a job as a communications coordinator and graphic designer at a non-profit organization in Johnston, Iowa, (a suburb of Des Moines). The prospect of beginning my career at an organization that I am truly passionate about is exciting to say the least.
I couldn’t really bring myself to leave Ames yet, though. I will be sticking around until my lease expires in July, and even then, I will be less than an hour’s drive from my forever home. There was no way I was ready to give up the bells of the campanile and Saturdays at Jack Trice Stadium quite yet…
Technically, I’m not an Iowa State student anymore, but I’ve never felt more like a Cyclone. I’ve been buying up all the “Iowa State Alumni” memorabilia I can, because I’m so proud to say that I graduated from a place as amazing as this.
To all Iowa State students: Enjoy it. Before you know, your time on the campanile will be up, too!
