So Long, Farewell
And in the blink of an eye, I’m an Iowa State Alum!
Wow, I can’t believe that I’m writing this blog already. It feels like just yesterday I was a freshman starting off at Iowa State. On Saturday, May 6th, 2017, I attended the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences’ Convocation Ceremony and the University Commencement.
The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences’ Convocation Ceremony was held at 8:30 AM in Hilton Coliseum. It is much smaller than Commencement, but it still lasts about an hour and a half. You are seated by your major so you see lots of familiar faces!
The University Commencement is held at Jack Trice stadium and includes all 6 colleges. You are seated with your specific college, but in no particular order. This ceremony takes a couple of hours to complete. There were over 5,000 students this year! However, it’s still fun to be able to walk across the stage in Jack Trice and receive your diploma cover with your friends and classmates.
Though this chapter of my life is coming to an end, I’m very excited to continue on to new adventures. Iowa State will always hold a special place in my heart, and Ames will always be home away from home. With that being said, I am happy to say that I will be moving out to Sioux Falls, SD, for an accelerated nursing program through SDSU. I will be taking rigorous coursework for a full year but will emerge with my BSN. I know that I will do well in this program because of the foundation that Iowa State has given me. I feel prepared and ready to conquer my future endeavors!
To all of the future and present Cyclones, enjoy every minute of your time on campus! It may get stressful at times, but always remember that one day it has to come to an end and you must enter the real world. So cherish these moments and make as many memories as you can! Go Cyclones!! 😀
