What’s up, Cyclones?
It’s me, Keaton. I’m back at Iowa State for one final year, (terrifying) and I’m ready to make the most of my remaining time as a Cyclone.
I spent my summer in Brookings, South Dakota, working for Prairie Repertory Theatre as an actor and publicity/box office worker. I can easily say it was one of the best summers of my life. I never thought that I would end up spending a summer in some random town in South Dakota, but that is the perfect example of how an adventure at Iowa State can really take you anywhere.
Prairie Repertory Theatre is a summer stock company that is run by the theatre department at South Dakota State University. Our season featured four different shows, and we performed each show for one week in Brookings, and then we moved all of the shows to Brandon, South Dakota and performed them again. I performed in The Little Mermaid and Bye, Bye, Birdie, and they were easily two of the most fun shows that I have ever been a part of. And I got to wear some pretty amazing/ridiculous costumes.
While I met lots of amazing new people, it was also so special when my friends and family from home could come and see one of my shows. You know you have the best friends in the world when they will drive that many hours because they miss you and want to support you.
I also got to spend a lot of quality time with my amazing friends and family before I got back to Ames and started work and classes again for the fall.
I’m super excited to see what this year is going to bring, and even more excited to be back at Cyclone Life sharing my year with all of you. Let’s have a great year!
