Friends and Fries at the Newly Renovated Clyde’s!
Over the summer, Clyde’s Fresh Express underwent a magical transformation. It went from a quick grab-and-go express station to a full grill, shake shop, AND Starbucks.
The on-campus dining of my dreams?
It just might be.
Conveniently located on the first floor of Union Drive Community Center, Clyde’s is easy to get too from the Upper Friley and Student Services bus stops and is also easy to walk to from anywhere on campus.
To celebrate a successful second week of classes, my friends Rachel, Jinni, and I decided we had to check it out!
This groovy sign is properly displayed front and center. I’m getting some serious Disney World vibes.
When Clyde’s is open the walls disappear which is good because at peak lunchtime this popular spot has a line out into the main UDCC seating area! Also, note the official Starbucks logo.
The new interior design of Clyde’s features shiny wood floors and a welcoming open waiting space.
TV monitors keep track of when orders are ready. What a time to be alive.
The menu is divided into entrees, ice cream, and Starbucks! Sandwiches, burgers, soups, and salads are all entree options.
You can use flex meals here, too. Happy Friday indeed!
Our complete food spread. I got a classic cheeseburger with a side of crinkle cut fries and an Oreo shake, Rachel got a grilled cheese and a Starbucks Iced Chai Tea Latte, and Jinni got a cheeseburger with a side of fries and a Starbucks frappuccino. An exquisite college feast for sure.
Rachel demonstrates the cheese stretch of her grilled cheese- aka, our measurement of whether it’s cheesy enough.
It most definitely passed.
The seasoning on these fries is incredible. I was not fully prepared for how fancy this burger is- it’s not just your basic lettuce, tomato, and cheese. They have a menu with different cheeses and some fancy greenery and red sauce for toppings.
We all enjoyed our food and agreed the fries were the best part! Jinni suggested adding protein to your grilled cheese (like ham or pulled pork) and Rachel agreed that it would be a good flavor addition to the multitudes of cheese. I would highly recommend the Oreo shake because there were little pieces of oreo in EVERY sip which is clearly the most important part of an Oreo shake.
Clyde’s is the perfect spot to catch up with friends between classes or grab a quick coffee before a study session. The convenient location and menu selection make it a place that people can easily get to and easily find something good to eat. Just be mindful that there can be a longer wait around peak lunchtime (noon) and plan accordingly. For these fries, I’d say it’s worth it. We will most definitely be returning!
