How to Find a Part-Time Job on Campus
Your classes have started, you’ve figured out how to do laundry, and your planner is organized with all of your due dates (if it’s not, see my previous post! 🙂 ). But now what do you do with that three-hour block of free time you have every day?
You could take a nap, watch the entirety of The Office on Netflix for the fifth time… OR you could find a part-time job and make some money. Getting a part-time job on campus is a great way to build your resume, meet new people, and afford those weekend coffee shop study sessions.
AND the Student Job Board makes it easy to find jobs to apply to. Just follow these three steps:
- Log into AccessPlus
2. Go to the “Student” tab at the top of the page.
3. Click on the “Student Job Board” link towards the bottom of the left Sidebar
Once you’re on the job board, you can view available jobs by major, location, job type, when they were posted, and if they’re for a specific time period (like summer or seasonal jobs). To change your view, just select one of these options from the top left menu.
Choose one of the categories and you’ll see a list of all of the jobs hiring in that category with their titles, employers, and location.
If you click on the little plus sign next to the job number, you can view a summary of the position and the requirements.
If you click on the job number link, you can view a more in-depth description of the job including the pay rate, type of schedule and hours, start and end date, and how to apply for the job.
Take some time to explore all of the different kinds of jobs available- even if they’re not in the same category as your major. (The miscellaneous tab usually has some cool opportunities, for example).
Now go find some exciting job opportunities!!
