Greek Food to Go from the Hub’s Heaping Plato!

A few weeks ago, my roommate Rachel and I went to the Roasterie at the newly opened Hub and enjoyed homemade gelato and cold brew coffee. (You can read about our experience here).

This week, I decided to try out the other half of the Hub: Heaping Plato!

Heaping Plato serves fresh Mediterranean food with Chipotle- style customization. You can start with turmeric rice, salad, or a a pita, add in your protein, and then choose from a wide variety of toppings and sauces. It’s a very speedy process, so don’t worry if there’s a long line when you arrive. They’ve got it down to a science.

This is where the magic starts.

Because I had to get back to the College of Design for a work meeting, I decided to take the food to-go and bring it back to my studio. (The photography lighting is better there, anyway 😉 )

The Roasterie just happens to be right next to Heaping Plato (…convenient) and it was absolutely freezing outside so I also ordered a vanilla cappuccino.

I decided to try the pita and falafel combo topped with lettuce, chopped tomatoes and onions, and tzatziki sauce.

So. fresh.

But what is falafel, you ask? They’re bite-sized fried chickpea fritters- an excellent source of vegan protein and ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS.

This is one of those foods you have to try at least once. Trust me.

Heaping Plato also offers unique deserts like… pistachio baklava! Layers of flaky pastry and sweet pistachio filling? Yes please.

You know how I said if I were a pistachio I would aspire to be a part of the Roasterie’s gelato? …This Baklava would be an okay goal, too. 🙂

If you’re looking for a fast, fresh, and healthy meal with a very convenient central campus location, I would definitely recommend giving Heaping Plato a try. They’re open from 7:30 am-3:00 pm during the week (closed during the weekends) and accept both Flex Meals and Dining Dollars!
